Kitchen Aid Hand Blender

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The one thing any cook really needs nowadays is a powerful reliable hand blender. I love creamy soups and sauces and I’ve had my fair share of hand blenders. I’ve had  few plastic ones which have ‘melted’ on me as I’ve put them into soup while obviously still too hot. I’ve has some cheap ones which have just stopped working or in one case the blade fell off in the middle of doing a cream sauce! Saying all that I’ve found the perfect blender and I truly mean it. In fact the one I use is probably not in production now but the replacement ‘big brother’ for my blender is the Kitchen Aid Classic Hand Blender 5KHB1231.

These blenders are brilliant. They have a steel blender stalk which is fabulous as you don’t need to worry that it will melt in the heat so you can blend things at boiling point safely. The powerful two speed motor lets you blend chunky soups and then the high speed really makes the soups or sauces super smooth.

There are cheaper versions of this Kitchen Aid hand blender around but I must say that this item is such good quality that it’s better to invest in something that will last the years and give exceptional service.

I love how easy they are to clean as well. Once I’ve blended my soup I just run it under a hot tap and voila its clean and I dry it an put it away till next time.

These blenders are so powerful they even blend ham hock which I put in chunks into my ham and pea soup and so smoothly, you would never know that there is meat in the soup.

If you have a new baby this blender is just the thing. When my two beautiful boys were small and going onto solid food I used to put a small bit of steak, a carrot, a potato and a bit of broccoli into a small pan. I would put some water in and cook everything together then blend it with a hand blender to a smooth paste. My babies had blended macaroni cheese, pasta bake and mince and potatoes all blended beautifully with my Kitchen Aid hand blender. It was so easy to do I don’t think I ever needed to buy a jar of baby food ever.
